Two Memories (2025)

__________________________________________________________________________________________
Two Memories proves that interactivity can exist without a single wire or circuit.
Using light, perspective, and architecture, Nawaf created an illusion that invites visitors to question what they see — a moment where reality quietly bends before their eyes.
The Concept
The installation contrasts two eras of Saudi homes — the clay house of Nawaf’s father and the 1970s home of his mother.
The transformation between both spaces happens seamlessly, symbolizing how memory and identity coexist within a single frame of time.

The Illusion

Behind the illusion lies an intricate study of reflection, lighting, and human perception.
Dozens of experiments were conducted to align every surface and color precisely — ensuring the visitor perceives one continuous room until the pivotal moment of revelation.

Behind the Scenes

Behind the scenes, Nawaf spent months perfecting the mechanics of perception.
Each iteration aimed to balance realism and illusion, testing how far simplicity can carry the weight of wonder — how a mirror and a frame can rewrite space.
